VECD Fogarty Global Health Fellowship 2014

VECDThe Fogarty Global Health Fellowship Program is now open to give students from developing countries such opportunities in global health research training. This is a one-year program sponsored by Fogarty International Center (FIC) in collaboration with several institutes and centers at the National Institutes of Health. The purpose of the program is to support a one-year mentored research fellowship for clinical investigator studying diseases and conditions in developing countries. The training will be available at the Vanderbilt-Emory-Cornell-Duke Consortium.

Scholarship Provider: The fellowship program is sponsored by Fogarty International Center in collaboration with NIH

Destination Study: The fellowship can be taken in Haiti, Kenya, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, Vietnam, Mexico, Brazil, India, and China

Country of Applicants: The eligible applicants for the program are US citizens and citizens of low or middle income countries based on the data issued by the World Bank

Level/Degree: The program is a one-year clinical research training for pre and postdoctoral students


The fellowship is provided for:

–          Postdoctoral Trainees with 3 years of last major training and advanced doctoral students currently enrolled in health-related doctoral programs

–          PhD students should have completed Master’s level coursework

–          Candidates of professional doctoral degree should have completed the basic science course and one year clinical training

To be eligible the applicants must:

  • Be citizens of the US and counties of low or middle income based on the World Bank
  • Demonstrate big interest in a career in global health research
  • Have support of a VECD institution
  • US based postdoctoral applicants with NIH T32 or VECD research oriented supports are preferred
  • Applicants from Ponce School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Meharry Medical College, and U. Puerto Rico are encouraged to apply

Scholarship Value:

–          11-month stipend support

–          Health Insurance or fringe benefits

–          Modest cost of research training

–          Roundtrip travel costs

–          Five-day workshop/orientation training
