Commonwealth Academic Fellowships in UK December 2014

MDG : Dfid : Department for International Development LondonDepartment for International Development (DFID) of the United Kingdom is inviting applicants from developing Commonwealth Countries to apply for Commonwealth Academic Fellowships. It is a mid-career academics offered in 3-month programme duration with the aim to provide the successful opportunities to successful candidates to develop new skills and contacts. The programme does not focus on research as its main purpose. The nominations for the programme are made based on the specific developing country universities responsible for advertising the fellowships to their staffs. Nominations in Bangladesh, India, and Sri Lanka are made by University Grants Commission, while for Pakistan; the nominations are made by the Higher Education Commission.

Eligibility

To be considered, the applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • Be citizens of commonwealth countries, refugees, or individuals protected by British
  • Permanent citizens of developing commonwealth countries
  • Willing to sign in the UK in September 2014 to commence the programme
  • Employed for at least 5 years as academic staffs of a university or higher education institution in home country
  • Be in the employment of the nominating university
  • Holding doctorate degree

Scholarship Value

The successful candidates will be provided several values awarded:

  • Approved airfare
  • Research support according to subject
  • Personal allowance during the period of the programme
  • A grant for report preparation or other academic writing work
  • Initial arrival allowance
  • A grant for expense for approved travel within the UK during the period of the programme

Application Deadline

The applicants must be submitted no later than December 3, 2013

How to Apply

All applications must be made by the nominating university or higher education institution in home country. The applicants should check the first instance for any specific advice related to how to make the application. The provider will not accept any direct applications except from the alumni of the previous programme invited. The applicants are required to complete the application form by using the Electronic Application System (EAS).
